Ole Miss Lineman Park Stevens Passes Away

Yesterday there were rumblings that an Ole Miss football player had passed away following a car accident. As night fell, unfortunately it became official as Ole Miss announced the death of offensive lineman Park Stevens.

According to ClarionLedger.com, Stevens was killed when his truck collided with rear of an 18-wheeler at the intersection of Egypt Road and Highway 45A around 3pm.

Around 11pm last night, Ole Miss and Coach Freeze posted the following on Facebook.

“Our team is hurting tonight with the loss of Park. He was a tremendous young man that was loved by his teammates and coaches, and Rebel Nation will never forget him. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Stevens’ family, his friends, our team and all those he touched during his life.”

UPDATE:

Stevens was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

UPDATE 2:

Funeral arrangements have been set and announced. Visitation will be from 11am – 1:30pm at Mt. Vernon church with the funeral immediately after.
