New North Texas Stadium Approved
North Texas announced today that the financing was approved for their new Football Stadium scheduled to open for the 2011 season.
They also announced that Coach Dodge would be back next season despite a 5-31 record in his 3 years.

Bobby Bowden to retire
I tweeted this last night, as I don't have the blog and twitter set to work on the same entry right now, that Bobby Bowden was going to retire today. I actually was typing the tweet when ESPN broke the news on their site so that made me feel like I actually know what I am talking about, no matter how briefly that feeling may last.
As a Penn State fan and season ticket holder, I know all about how a fan base and administration reacts when an older coach goes through a down period for the program. In fact, ours in the early 2000's was much worse that what Florida State is currently going through. I also know about the reward you get when you allow the coach to use the good will they have accrued over the years to remain in charge and turn the program around.
I don't usually get too personal or give too much opinion on this blog, but what FSU is doing to Bowden just doesn't sit right with me. In my opinion, the last time I saw a coach so wrongly fired by a school was Frank Solich at Nebraska and we all got to watch it derail their program through multiple coaching changes in just a few years while Coach Solich has won multiple MAC East Championships at a school with no virtually no football history and below average facilities.
I wish all the luck to Jimbo Fisher and FSU, but my heart goes out to Bobby and Ann Bowden. I hope they are able to forgive the people who have been so unforgiving to them.

Added Latest Games to my list
I added the Ball State at Western Michigan and the Pitt at West Virginia games from this week to my games attended list. Both games were close, with the Backyard Brawl coming down to the last play.

Louisville Fires Coach
Louisville has fired coach Steve Kragthorpe. I would suspect to see a few more firings by Tuesday evening.

New Western Kentucky Coach
SI.com is reporting that Western Kentucky University (WKU), the newest FBS team is set to announce the hiring of Stanford assistant Willie Taggart as their new head coach later today.
